AHCC Information

AHCC is a natural supplement mushroom extract from Japan. This is based on a real study currently underway at the University of Texas by Dr. Judith A. Smith. She studied the effects of AHCC on patients with high risk HPV infections and found that it had a huge impact in eradicating the infection. Patients took 3 grams of AHCC every morning on an empty stomach for 6 months. AHCC is an immune booster which helps the system fight against the HPV infection. The complete results are not in yet but it is promising to see and there have been a lot of anecdotes on the internet. This is something that can be tried today since it’s available on the market.

AHCC Anecdotes

Someone from her study: I am a participant in the study that is being conducted by Dr. Judith Smith in Houston. After one month on the AHCC I just got a negative HPV test. I can't tell you how EXCITED I am! With permission from Dr. Smith, I am posting the correct brand/dosage to take: "The AHCC product I recommend using ImmunoKinko 750 (Quality of Life labs) order 1-914-251-0981 (877-937-2422). I would suggest taking 4 capsules (3g) for at least three months to six months to "test" if will help. If you mention you asked me for dosing I believe they will give you a 10% discount too and I know that they contribute 30% of their profit to ongoing cancer research, so good source."

Someone who emailed Dr. Smith: Hi all, I was curious as to how Dr. Smith concluded "eradication" of HPV from phase 1 so I e-mailed her for details. I tried to verify from her whether the eradication was an eradication of the infection (dysplasia) or an eradication of the HPV virus itself. Below were her responses. I'm not quite sure whether I got a clear response but it still sounds very inconclusive...

"I am sorry for your news. Thank you so much for the interest in our pilot study in HPV+ women. We are still in process of evaluating AHCC in humans to hopefully confirm our pilot data in our current phase II study. At this time, I am not sure if it will or will not work for all types or locations of HPV in humans but or with HPV-related tumors/cancer! To date, we have only been evaluating high risk strains of HPV in women. Glad to hear you are AHCC, please let me know how it goes for you. Just to confirm, the AHCC dose I would suggest taking 3 grams once a day on an empty stomach (1 hour before meals or 2 hours after) for at least three months to six months to "test" if will help. Again, please consult with your primary doctor to make sure AHCC is okay for you to take with any other medications or health conditions.

The three women that responded in our study actually cleared infection - no longer tested positive for HPV. We still need to confirm these findings in a more rigorous setting of phase II study.

Then I responded to reason out that the majority of information out there tell us that the body can clear the virus within 2 years... so how do we tell when a patient under AHCC medication finally turns HPV negative whether the result was caused by AHCC or just her body clearing it? Below was her response...

"We have done preclinical studies to confirm eradication (in vitro and in animals) - our pilot data suggests that it may also work in humans but we need to complete the phase II study to confirm the findings of our preclinical and pilot studies.

6 Year Persistent Infection: I wanted to share my story and some good news! I have had persistent HPV with LSIL paps for the past 6 years. My doctor was starting to push the idea of LEEP or laser ablation. I felt that those treatments were too aggressive and found this website where I learned about AHCC. I have been taking AHCC for the past 6 months, and I just got news that my pap from two weeks ago showed only atypical cells and did not detect HPV. They told me I did not need to come in for a colpo and I can come back in 6 months for another pap! I am so happy!

1 Year Infection: Last year I tested positive for high risk HPV (not 16 or 18, but one of the others) and had an ASCUS pap smear. I immediately started taking AHCC immediately. I took between 2 and 3 grams each day pretty consistently for the first 3 months. Then I was only taking is sporadically over the next 6 months or so since it is so expensive. Then, the last 3 months, I was back taking it consistently (2 - 3 grams a day). I just received my one-year follow up results and I had a NORMAL pap and am HPV negative for any and all strains of HPV! Not to mention, I didn't get sick at all this winter and have never felt better physically. I think I am going to keep taking AHCC daily, but will cut it down to 1 gram a day. That way I am maintaining an optimal immune system at a minimum. So, I am officially a big believer in this!!!!!

2 Year Infection: I had a pap in Nov 2014 and it came back normal, after about 4 months on the AHCC (my two previous paps, in Dec 2012 and then July 2013 both came back abnormal, LSIL and HPV positive). Now, I havent been tested for HPV again after that time in July 2013 when it came back positive but the pap in Nov 2014 came back normal. Dont know if it might have been a true negative or maybe just a false negative? I m hoping everything is ok though and I will be going back for a 6 months pap in a few weeks. I couldnt say if my normal pap is a result of my taking the AHCC or if I would have cleared it eventually anyway.. I dont know and quite frankly Idont care much at this point, I just want it to stay normal and never have problems because of this virus again EVER!

6 Year Persistent Infection: I wanted to give everyone an update. In March 2015 I tested negative for HPV for the first time in 6 years. I had been taking AHCC religiously as well as some other vitamins (and I quit smoking!). I just went back for my 6 month pap to recheck for HPV and I am once again negative and can go back to yearly paps. These past 6 months I haven't been taking AHCC as religiously as before and I think i'm going to switch to turkey tail or a lower dose of AHCC to help with costs. Just wanted to spread some hope and positive news for those who need it.

2 Year Infection: Hello, just wanted to share some good news, pap smear negative for HPV and dysplasia after 2 years of CIN1 high risk strain HPV, also biopsy negative for both. Took 6 month of AHCC as per protocol and folic acid. Also noticed big improvement with GI tract issues and regular colds. Used to get bad colds and flues, but since AHCC, didn't get sick as much at all. So it is really worth the try. Wishing all you ladies fast cure and healing. Hope to have same good news in 3 months.

10 Year Persistent Infection: Thought I'd spread good news. I had abnormal paps for ten years...10 YEARS Of going to the doctor every 6 months and having colposcopies and 4 surgeries to clear precancerous cells. I had not one normal pap in the last 10 years...until this past year..I've had 2 normal paps this year. I've been taking ahcc for over a year now. I don't know if this is a coincidence or what but I'm pretty happy that I don't have to go back for another pap for a year!!! I've been taking the ahcc like dr Judith recommends in the morning on an empty stomach. Maybe it's a coincidence and not from the ahcc but I don't know...feels pretty amazing either way. :)

5 Year Persistent Infection: Hi everyone, I wanted to give an update and spread some hope around this thread. I was diagnosed with HPV in 2009 and I continued to have abnormal paps for about 5 years before my doctor started pushing for me to get a LEEP. At this point, I began taking AHCC as well as many other supplements. In addition, I changed my diet, quit smoking (I was only a social smoker), and got out of a stressful toxic relationship. I had my first normal pap in 2015, followed by another normal pap 6 months later. I did not have a pap in 2016 due to schedule conflicts but I just had my routine yearly pap last week and received news that it was normal and there were no signs of HPV. I have not been taking AHCC as much as I was when I first started making changes and trying to battle this virus. AHCC is very expensive so I buy it when I can afford it and take smaller doses to spread it out. I do take emergen-c vitamins every day to keep my immune system strong and healthy. I hope this helps some of you.
